Detroit Tummy Tuck

When the abdominal area is stretched due to pregnancy, weight fluctuations, and/or aging, the underlying muscles can lose their ability to tighten and skin elasticity is lost. Therefore, to regain a flatter, slimmer waistline, Detroit tummy tuck patients may wish to undergo a tummy tuck procedure in Rochester Hills, MI, at North Oakland Plastic Surgery with Richard Hainer, M.D., F.A.C.S. Dr. Hainer is skilled in this procedure and is known to produce natural-looking results.

During this entire surgical experience, Dr. Hainer and the entire staff at North Oakland Plastic Surgery are committed toward availability.

Dr. Hainer offers a variety of techniques for tummy tuck surgery ("abdominoplasty"), which will depend on the patient's individual needs and anatomy. During a standard, or full, tummy tuck, Dr. Hainer makes a long incision in the lower abdomen in a bikini-line pattern just above the pubic hairline using a harmonic scalpel. This type of scalpel is similar to a cautery device but uses ultrasound; there is less pain, tissue trauma, seroma, and it also coagulates lymphatic tissue. Once the incision is made, the skin is separated from the underlying muscle up to the ribcage area; Dr. Hainer will then tighten the muscles and trim away excess skin and fat. When there is a large amount of skin that is removed, our Detroit tummy tuck surgeon will make a new opening for the navel.

If you are experiencing only minimal sagging of the skin and stretched-out muscles, Dr. Hainer can perform a mini tummy tuck. This would only require a small incision and tightening of the muscles would be limited to the lower abdomen. There is no need for a new belly button opening when performing a partial tummy tuck procedure.

A new method, called high lateral tension abdominoplasty, is also available at Dr. Hainer's practice. This technique tightens the abdominal muscles both vertically and horizontally, where as a traditional tummy tuck only tightens muscles vertically. Another added benefit of the high lateral method is the removal of excess skin from the flank area, resulting in a better-contoured shape.

Also offered at North Oakland Plastic Surgery is the endoscopic tummy tuck method. This technique is ideal for those who do not have sagging skin and only require tightening of the muscles. It is performed through a small incision above the pubic hairline with an endoscope; compared to the other tummy tuck procedures, it offers minimal scarring.

To alleviate pain after your procedure, Dr. Hainer will use a specially designed pain pump, which will provide direct flow of an anesthetic solution to the tightened abdominal muscles. It is typically removed after five days.

In many cases, liposuction ("lipoplasty") is combined with other procedures in order to produce a better-contoured shape, such as with breast lift surgery ("mastopexy") and/or breast augmentation ("augmentation mammaplasty"). Together, these surgeries are commonly termed a "Mommy Makeover." Women who are no longer planning on having children often undergo this combination of procedures to regain the slender, shapelier body they had.

If you are not experiencing any sagging in the breasts, but desire an increase in volume, Dr. Hainer can perform a transabdominoplasty breast augmentation (TABA). This technique entails inserting saline filled breast implants through the tummy tuck incision, leaaving no scars on the breasts.

Before and after tummy tuck photos are available to view, which feature some of Dr. Hainer's patient results. We also invite you to read patient testimonials to get a better understanding of the impeccable care and individualized attention provided at North Oakland Plastic Surgery.

"My abdomen is more beautiful than I had ever hoped for. Finding you was a challenge but well worth the search."
